Whoops

A whole day went by and I forgot to make an update, so here's...my top three favorite things at the moment!

Banjo-Kazooie: There are some games that nostalgia is tricky with. Games that were, at their time, incredible, innovative, and fun: but then you try to play it today and you exclaim, "What is this shit!?" Banjo-Kazooie is not one of those games. Though it presents no special difficulty to anyone with fully functional eyes and opposable thumbs, it's cartoony mischief, amazing soundtrack, and unique worlds keep pushing you forward. You can get through most of the levels without even fighting any bad guys, unless it's necessary to get a Jigsaw piece, but even then, it's completely plausible to never fight any enemies except bosses and mini-bosses, who, at best, take multiple hits to knock out. However, that makes it the perfect game when you just want to lay back, relax, and not give a shit.

Halo Reach: The most depressing thing for me is that, at peak times, the highest I've seen on Reach has been about 150,000~200,000 people, while most of the time it hovers around 100,000. Launch week? It was over 800,000. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has more people playing it. Black Ops has three times as many. Why? Everybody calls Halo casual, but suddenly CoD is the "hardcore" game? But really, enough whining. Halo: Reach is my favorite game right now and has been since the midnight launch. It just works for me. I love the different Armor Abilities, I love the shitty maps I hate when I don't play Countdown / Sword Base over and over, and I love the annoying as fuck new weapons (Grenade Launcher, Plasma Cannon, Concussion Rifle, etc). I love the DMR bloom too. I love it. Everybody who whines about it being worse then Halo 3 are just mad / buttfrustrated / jelly / buzzword because it's a new game and they want the old game and want to resist change. I hate those people. It's a new game, just keep playing the old one if you want the same crap. Everything in Halo: Reach is an improvement. Even the lack of bleed through for melees, I especially like that. Maybe I should phrase it better. Everything in Halo: Reach is an improvement for better quality multiplayer gameplay. Bungie is a good company because they respect, like, and listen to their fans. In all honesty though, I have fun playing Halo, that's why I like it so much and why I'm good at it: I enjoy myself and play it all the time, what better mix could you need to be skilled at something?

Eureka 7: If you've never seen Eureka 7, you are missing out. Most people (i.e. two of my friends) shrug it off because it looks like a mech anime. WRONG. Calling Eureka 7 a mech anime would be like calling Batman a Discovery Channel special on bats: just because it has said thingy in it, does not mean that is it's primary focus. The thing that makes Eureka 7 unique is that the characters are the story. Most anime, cartoons, movies, have plots that they are about, in-which characters get mixed up in / become a part of and have to solve / save / love a midget to get through. Eureka 7 features a loose plot that doesn't really focus until the second half of the series, but this plot is the glue that keeps everything together, because the actual story is focused on the many characters, crew members of the Gekko-Go ship and their relationships. But it also has plenty of giant robots kicking the shit out of each other while skyboarding, doing tricks and shooting missiles off of glowing boards they use to ride the air. And Eureka is super cute.

  1. Man you shouldn't be worried about player count like that. S'long as there's enough for constant games you're good.

  2. @Totenkreuz: But that's exactly why I'm worried. I may get constant, fast games, but the large, large majority of people I end up in teams with, I end up reviewing to avoid. I might prefer 1 in 7 people.

Halo reach is pretty damn good too. I don't really have any complaints about it.
I only saw a few Eureka 7 episodes, so unfortunately can't comment on that :<

  8. Out of those things I only like Banjo Kazooie. Had severe trouble beating it back in the day on the N64, then recently I downloaded it on Xbox Arcade and finished it 100% in 3 days :D Was and still is an awesome game.
